CHRISTINE HOÁNGExpressing myself through art has often been easier than using words to describe my experiences. Since the pandemic, I felt the need to critically reflect on what my mind, body, and spirit are telling me. At this point in my life, I am working to reclaim my creative agency and joy in creating.
The art I create comes from my perspective as a queer, non-binary, neurodivergent, and Vietnamese person. While I work in other mediums as well, my art practices mostly involve illustration, graphic design, and photography. Themes on intimate love, home and family, intergenerational knowledge, collective care, and interdependence show up in my art. With my skills, knowledge, and experiences, I would love to do character design work for webcomics and video games, especially those that uplift the stories of the QTBIPoC community. Empowering people from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities with the tools to imagine themselves into the future is an everyday dream of mine. |
